BUREAU OF LABOR



The Bureau of Labor is the apex workforce of the San Andreas Port Authority, they are responsible for a multitude of tasks from heavy-duty work such as loading and unloading cargo containers from trains and ships, to office work such as managing public relations, legal affairs or maintaining IT infrastructure. There is next to no requirements needed to join the bureau with simple and cohesive on-the-job training.
PRIMARY DUTIES
  • Load and unload large shipping containers to and from vessels and train cabs utilizing forklifts, gantry cranes and other heavy equipment.
  • In some instances, longshoremen may be required to spend some days working on a ship as part of a cargo vessel's crew.
  • Liaise with warehouses, goods companies and logistics companies to sort and distribute cargo as necessary for shipping and processing, taking customs in to account.
  • Handle any and all construction work required by the bureau, such as in the instance of a truck damaging a structure.
  • Work with the Bureau of Safety, helping them brute force their way in to containers in the case of suspected criminal activity.
  • Re-seal and repair containers after damages or leaks using sheet metal stock and welding tools.
  • Liaise with the Bureau of Safety in the case of discovered illegal activities such as human trafficking, illegal substances and immigration.
  • Maintain the vehicular fleet and heavy machinery, providing repairs in the case of damage and wear while also keeping fuel levels adequate.
  • Work at times with trucking companies, helping trucks parked in load-lanes to unload their cargo in to freight containers.
Working as a longshoreman is no easy task, it's hard strenuous laborious work which is why becoming one isn't usually a straight-forward process, typically you would get a dockworker's card and then work your way up through the local workers union, however in the case of the Port of Los Santos, we do allow applications and are equipped to recruit people who just show up to work.

ADMIN DIVISION


The Admin division is responsible for any and all office-based work, a few examples of such would be Public Relations, Legal Affairs, Accountancy, Payroll, etc.
PRIMARY DUTIES
  • Manage Public Relations, including but not limited to press releases and social media.
  • Work on legislation and lawsuits under Legal Affairs, liaising with Bureau of Safety.
  • Maintain office infrastructure such as stationary stock, IT management, etc.
  • Liaise with trucking companies and trading partners to secure orders and manifests.

MAINTENANCE DIVISION


The Maintenance division is responsible for maintaining the vehicular fleet and the ongoing operation of all critical heavy machinery at the port.
PRIMARY DUTIES
  • Maintain the vehicular fleet, responsible for any and all repairs and upgrades.
  • Take heavy machinery and vehicles in and out of service depending on their status after inspections.
  • Refuel vehicles, ensuring they always have a reasonable amount of fuel in their tanks each morning.
  • Liaise with manufacturers of heavy machinery in order to repair critical infrastructure.
